It's a SMALL world. The first part of feb this year my two sons (Anthony 15 years old 170 pounds and 5ft 10) and (Aaron 13 years old 90 pounds 4ft 10) and three of their friends were jumped by seven guys at the North Town mall. Three of these guys followed our boys around trying to start stuff. Our boys moved on. A little while later the three younger guys showed back up with four more friends. Our sons tried to walk away. The 7 guys jumped our sons from behind. Four of them went after my youngest son. He is the 3rd smallest kid in his school. He is little. Four of them beat him. They swung him into the wall like a bat. The kicked him in the face and back of the head and then stomped on his foot trying to break it. My son is a 10 year wrestler and was able to defend him self pretty good. He was taken to the hospital in a ambulance. They checked him for a broken neck a ruptured spleen a broken foot and a few other things. My oldest boy being the biggest of our sons had only a few bruises but unharmed for the most part. My foster son came out of this with 9 stitches putting his upper lip back together. It was cut from just under the nose back inside and up into the sinuses. One of our other boys ended up with a fractured jaw and the other a concussion. Four of our boys spent the night in the e.r. My youngest son did not deal well with this. He is now on meds for anxiety and P.T.S. And my foster son has moved back down to Stockton Ca. to get away from the violence here. ALL SEVEN of the boys that did this to our sons where I.D. with in a week. Only ONE of these little bastards was arrested and charged. The reason I am telling you all this, is because the suspect that in in jail now for beating SHORTY to death, is one of the boys that jumped our sons. Why was he not charged for our sons. There is video and eye witness accounts. ONE of these SEVEN guys was charged but ALL took part. Maybe if they would have charged this boy in the first place this may not have happened. This is a pattern. Our boys where jumped at 7pm on a wed while shopping for V-Day presents for their girl friends. So my question to the S.P.D. is this. You dropped the ball the first time. Matter of fact you had my son listed as a witness not a victim in this case. And even after I pushed it and you guys relized it you still NEVER charged ANYONE else for this beating at the mall. Maybe if you had this could have been avoided. To this day we have not gotten any closure. My sons and I have zero faith in our police department to protect us. And this is one of the reasons why we have decided to leave this town as soon as we can. I have lived here in spokane for 29 years. And the thought of my children having to grow up in this town scares the shit out of me. I want them to be safe. And I don't beleave they are here anymore.My heart goes out to Shorty and his family. I feel very lucky that my sons were only beaten up and not worse. Please pass this on. Everyone should know about this. This could have been avoided if the proper steps would have been done and these little bastards charged for what they did.
