LEAVE NOW: 'Angry' Idaho Fire Spreads To 126,000 Acres, Threatens Luxury Homes
Some evacuated residents in the central Idaho resort
area of Ketchum and Sun Valley are being allowed to return home Monday.
Authorities say residents of about 100 homes have been allowed to
return but about 2,000 homes remain under mandatory evacuation orders
due to the 160-square-mile Beaver Creek Fire. More than 1,200 people are now assigned to the Beaver Creek Fire, which is 9 percent contained.
Fire managers say both of the nation's DC-10 jet retardant bombers have
been used, but one experienced an engine malfunction after a drop
Thursday. The jet made it back safely to Pocatello in southeastern Idaho
but remains unavailable.

Bears rarely attack humans unless they feel threatened or territorial. But a 12-year-old girl jogging in Michigan is among the latest victims in a spate of bear attacks that have left seven people mauled in five states since Thursday.
Wildlife officials are running tests on a bear they killed to see if it's the same one that mauled Abby Wetherell on Thursday evening. The girl from Cadillac, Michigan, was out on her nightly jog when she was ambushed by a black bear.
I used to think black bears were very dangerous, but my thinking evolved in much the same way people have changed their attitudes about gorillas. I now interpret aggressive displays by black bears in terms of their fear rather than mine.
MORAL: Even pros are in danger from time to time. If you see a bear activity warning sign then obey it. The best way to avoid a bear attack is to not be where they are. If you chance encounter and fear for life, you can shoot to kill but your case will be adjucated to make sure it was attacking.
A black man around mid 20's was driving this silver Corsica around and behnd the Cheney Chevron. The car belongs to a EWU football running back from California. He did not authorize anyone near his car. The police were called in due to this editors and his wifes clear attention on the whole event. Aaron, the garage owner was notified by phone and immediately called the Cheney Police. I've been in this business for almost 50 years. I keep one eye open and one in the magazine. Please neighbors...watch out for your other neighbors. One day you may need them.

Firefighters in the Missoula area were scrambling Sunday to
extinguish several new wildfires started by lightning strikes early in
the morning.“This is what you would call an extremely busy initial-attack day,” said Cindy Super, fire information officer with the state Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
“It’s what we call a ‘lightning bust.’ The storm that moved through here late Saturday and early Sunday laid down a lot of lightning strikes and we got a lot of starts, which had us busy all day, starting at 1:58 a.m.”

Like much of Northeast Asia, South Korea is enduring a massive heat wave -- the country nearly had a blackout Monday with power demand reaching record heights -- and South Koreans have been scrambling to keep cool as best they can.
Unlike, say, the past 20 fashion trends that all South Koreans embraced and discarded before anyone else knew they were a thing (neon skinny jeans, winged sneakers, lightning-bolt-shaped plastic earrings, platform Converses), the latest hottest fashion trend is based on the "cooling" functionality.
The result? Thin, light and wildly patterned "refrigerator pants," which are what all the girls in Seoul and Busan are wearing this summer.
Made from wrinkle-free polyester fabrics, refrigerator pants are flying off the shelves at online and offline shopping malls as the heat surges on.
