Pacific NWNews Monday

,
The weather remains on the hot side for most in the Inland NW. Some models I have looked at call for a cooler trend with temps in the low 80's with exception of one or two days in the 90's. 84 is a normal high. None of these temps are anything to complain about. We still need rain but it will come. I am going to check the models for El Nino etc to see if anything special is up. Report later in the day.

It will not be terribly long before we start talking hunting season. Perhaps that is why Rick caught this pheasant hiding in the brush that acted well as a cover. I was checking all of the seasons, passes, tags and dates. Don't ever think for one minute that a hunter is a dummy. It takes many years of reading these Fish and Wildlife manuals to know exactly where you can go. One thing is usally for sure. During hunting season every place that has a food handlers permit will be giving out hunters breakfasts for a decent price, including Joyce I hope, at Curlew Store. If you know of different or other locations, let us know in comment section.

Above is Mullein or as the Native Americans called it, Indian Toilet Paper. Maybe we coined the term. I find it hard to believe a Native American would call himself an Indian. Some campers including our family, used this in emergency and yes we dug a hole. Picture by our own photojournalist Kathy Meader.

MISSING DOGS?? Brewster-----Clarke St. Republic. Not in phone book. 2 VERY large gray, tan skittish dogs visited us this morning. Finally got close enough to the girl to
get a partial read on the tag. Name "Brewster." Would not touch food or water we put out for them. Last seen crossing the field at the bottom of Redmond Rd. 10 miles out of Republic. Anyone know these dogs/owners?
