The Flying Goat in Spokane, Washington is hard to categorize, but I believe they can be best described as a relaxed sports gastropub that takes pride in offering unique and quality options - this is evident from their beer and wine selection to their pizza toppings.  All of the pizza creations at The Flying Goat are very creative, and I settled upon their “Gordon” pizza which consists of Zoe’s pepperoni, Italian sausage, kalamata olives, oven roasted mushrooms, house cheese blend and red sauce, only I got it without mushrooms.  The toppings had a great flavor, and the meat had just the right amount of delicious greasiness to it.  I also enjoyed the kalamata olives which are somewhat purple in color and lean more towards the taste of green olives than black ones.  Additionally, I thought the crust, which starts from fresh dough every morning and is cooked at 600 degrees, was very well done.  The Flying Goat states that the char to their crust is an essential part of cooking a correct Neopolitan-style pizza, and I believe they do a good job of accomplishing that without blackening it too much.  It was almost the perfect blend between soft and crispy in my opinion.  I would definitely recommend The Flying Goat as a great place to enjoy some beverages and pizza – whether it be on their patio, in their dining room, or at the bar - in the Inland Northwest.

SNOQUALMIE PASS -- An overnight snowstorm made quite a mess in the mountain passes Friday night. The first serious snow storm of the season came in a flash, leaving unprepared drivers in a lurch.
At Snoqualmie Pass, slick roads and poor visibility left some cars temporarily marooned at the summit. Drivers pulled over to put on snow chains to combat the wintry mix, and some cars had to be towed through the Cascade Range.
Farther down the mountain, I-90 eastbound traffic left drivers frustrated. Despite warnings and restrictions, a trio of semi trucks tried to scale the pass without chains. The trucks spun and churned, blocking traffic for nearly two miles.
