The Price Photo Dynasty

December 10, 2013

While it may not be the entire definition, it fits suiting the Price Family. In fact when we include Rick Prices wife Lucy, we have the whole picture. There may be more Price's but none as prolific as Rick, son Cody and Lucy. None seem to fear. Does that sound like an incomplete sentence...nope. They fear nothing. I've see Ricks pictures when returning from a cold couple weeks in the snows of Yellowstone. At the time Rick had some serious pain in the wrist....it only stopped him long enough to have it operated on and a short recovery. After that he tied some GroPro's to a very rough looking bush plane and crossed parts of mountainous, snowy Alaska where few have gone and less returned.
We are always struggling to stay online as a free alternative source. Folks in the Pacific NW know who to call to give or get information. We have been in pro news photography for coming on 50 years now...the last few were done out of generosity. This Christmas Season please consider us as a service...Help us continue. We are NOT a non profit group. I pay for it out of my pocket. Anything you can do out of your good Christian kindness? Kick or push better the Paypal button below. Thanks and may God bring you just what you want.

Rick has won the hearts of semi-pros and pros alike in a worldwide, renowned place on the net named Trek Nature. That is where I met him first. Later on Rick came to visit Jane and I along with Kathy Meader, one of my other super photographers. I would include Ron Rattray in my super list, but he doesn't have as much time unfortunately....he works a job full on time. But when Ron slips in a few pictures they are well worthy of praise.

For years, having been a professional newsman and photographer, I heard many stories about whose camera was better. Silly story. The picture is there. All one has to do is to take it. I have said for years, a good photographer can take pictures with a pinhole camera. I must hasten to add tat most of Ricks images come tome unaltered. That means no Photoshop as the public is so familiar with. PS is not the only image adjusting program out there.

Rick shoots with Canon cameras and lens. I used to shoot with a Nikon. My images were never up to Price levels but more than likely the largest problem on my picture horizon has always been location. There are hundreds of pictures I could take in my home, but it would get old both for me and for the observers.

Rick has the golden eye. Seeing a picture is what it's all about....and beyond that, there are other issues such as lighting, contrasting and framing what one sees into the viewfinder. Rick does it all.

Jane and I have a fun bunch of children....seven of them all ours and Jane delivered the majority natural childbirth. I wish I could take some of my kids back in time and do it all over again....I might have one great photographer there but also will not know unless it bubbles to the surface and surprises me.

Pictured above is Cody Price. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Cody but he enjoys being with his dad...I do believe that fishing, cameras and traveling to find new and exciting places is their short list.

Tomorrow is another day and so as such we will present the work of another fine Canadian photographer....and there are dozens of them, many I consider friends but as I've said before...nobody else was able to reach me when I was in such pain at North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital. That of course is Rob Fry of Ontario.
