Anyone can move a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard over the water, but precious few have savored the joy of paddling efficiently.
When you see paddlers zigzagging up the Thorofare to Upper Priest Lake, bumping into logs and frittering away calories, they probably don’t have a clue that there’s a better way.
Most of us figure we learned everything about paddling at summer camp when we were 9.
Even Brook Swanson had that mindset, to some degree.

How much is cheaper, fatter ground meat in your area? I used to own a small restaurant in Cleveland Heights. Sold Tacos, enchiladas and things that called for ground beef. 1974......35 cents a pound. Just last year it was half this price in pic purchased today.

Dave Koch As a seasonal cattle producer I stayed out of the market this year, why? Last year I paid about $1.20 a pound live weight for a 650 pound animal which I thought was too high to break even on. In the end I more than broke even partially because I sold about 2 weeks after that unseasonably blizzard then flood in the Dakotas that killed about 20 head of cattle. This year those same 650 pound cattle were as high as $2.40. Beef will continue to be high as long as the great sell off of herds impacted by multiple years of mid west and southwest herds reverses.

A judge gave Celia Savage a break in February when he sentenced her to probation after federal authorities found pipe bombs and guns in her home during a raid. He warned her not to make him look like a fool.
Less than six months later, Savage, 25, was arrested on drug charges, and on Friday she appeared before U.S. District Judge Richard Story again. He told her he was disappointed but still sees potential in her as he sentenced her to three years in prison.
