Todd Bender, an assistant principal at Ferris, was placed on leave Tuesday evening and has been the subject of a Spokane police investigation into allegations that he molested a teenaged family friend several times beginning in October 2011.


The top U.S. military commander in the fight against ISIS said airstrikes are working to erode the terror group's capabilities and warned militants that the U.S. military is listening to them.
Army Gen. Lloyd Austin, who heads the U.S. Central Command, made those remarks at an event Thursday with the Atlantic Council, which was moderated by CNN anchor and Chief Washington Correspondent Jake Tapper.
"I'm confident we're having the desired effects," Austin said of airstrikes in Syria and Iraq aimed at ISIS.

Thankfully no injuries after a small structure fire downtown grand forks..
The incident happened around 11 yesterday morning..Staff Sergeant Jim Harrison says the fire department was able to stop the fully involved shed fire from spreading to the home however melted vinyl siding did get on the back of the house..

Going to the state cross country championship meet in Pasco after his best District IV race finish ever — fifth place in 17:09.89.
“It was a very emotional day,” said coach Sara Taylor. “I don’t know who was the last student to run at state all four years. Evan is the only one I can think of since I have been coaching.
Sutherland has placed 89th, 42nd and 51st at the state meet his previous three years.
Just missing the top 25 cut off in the boys race was Ben Brownlee who finished 29th in 19:11.33, only a few seconds off his best 5K time. Behind him was teammate Marcos Mendoza, who was 36th in 19:36.4
