January 1 is the Blessed Mother's greatest Feast Day, "The Solemnity of Mary." It is the celebration of the Mother of God!! It celebrates everything that we love about God and Mary - that she said, "yes" at the Annunciation and brought forth our Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord, to give us the unlimited love of God in our lives, Always! What a great Mother to us, her children.

"1994 Eureka Quake" reminder
When
Friday, 26 December 2014
02:15 PM to 02:15 PM
(GMT) Greenwich Mean Time - Dublin / Edinburgh / Lisbon / London
Where
12 Miles WSW of Eureke Offshore of Humboldt County
Notes
At about this time on this morning in 1994 a M5.4 earthquake with an epicenter just offshore of Eureka, CA, along the coast of Humboldt County in Northern California jolted residents in the immediate area injuring about two dozen of them while knocking out power, breaking windows and doing widely scattered other minor damage. An interesting footnote to this event were the numerous reliable reports of strange photo-luminescent phenomenon in the sky over offshore epicenter area as the earthquake occurred.

CDC: Scientists may have been exposed to Ebola in Atlanta lab
As many as a dozen scientists may have been exposed to the Ebola virus at a lab of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, agency officials said.

The potential exposure took place Monday when scientists conducting research on the virus at a high-security lab mistakenly put a sample containing the potentially infectious virus in a place where it was transferred to another CDC lab, also in Atlanta.

Winter storm headed to Washington passes

Heavy snows are expected to sweep through Western Washington’s high country beginning late Friday, elating skiers and annoying holiday travelers.
National Weather Service forecasters predict 12 to 20 inches of new snow will have fallen across the Cascades by Saturday night. The snow comes after a slow start to alpine winter began raising concerns about this season’s snowpack.

My good friend "Truth" is what I call her. Her first name? Verita. Veritas? Truth. She wrote this piece....wow...lol
Only in Curlew~Go to town today to grab the mail, only to come out of the post office and run into a lady who I was told passed away a few days ago. Apparently, she didn't. She asked about my health, she said we should go get drunk to celebrate. Then, get my recycle plastic bags out of the car, stop to talk to my niece, told by her fellow they thought I was a cheerleader. So, I did a cheer only using my arms. Lady coming down the street from a block away, yells, what are you doing? I said I was a cheerleader. She asked, what for? I said the retirement home. She heard veteran's home. She said, wait a minute, I'll donate. She came out of the post office and gave me $5 for the veteran's. I think I better stay home. (O, and by the way, I did not go get drunk. You see, I can act like a dork sober).
Happy Boxing Day! Or Happy day-after-Christmas! Or happy day-before-the-day. Day before what day you ask?
If you have been reading the last few days, you know we've had our eye on a potent snow event that will grace us with its presence this weekend. That's right, many of us will finally see our first significant snow of the season Saturday and Sunday. Not just the mountains this time. Valleys too. Several inches of snow in some places, especially near/east of the Washington and Idaho border. If you live west of there, don't think you're missing out. You just might not get as much as locations further east.
So, it's not too late to prepare for this storm. Now would be a good time to stock up on snow sleds and hot chocolate, as well as brushing off your snowman-making skills.
