Fire Mobilization Authorized for the Milepost 10 Fire – Chelan County

State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Milepost 10 Fire located in Chelan County. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources at 3:15 p.m. on August 10, 2013, at the request of Chelan County Fire District 1.

The fire started at 11:04 p.m. on August 9, 2013 as a result of lightning.  The fire has grown to an estimated 1500 acres. There are approximately 150 residences threatened by the fire with evacuations in place.

Mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau have ordered seven wildland strike teams to supplement the resources already fighting the fire.

The State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at Camp Murray has been activated to Phase II, to coordinate state assistance for the Milepost 10 Fire. Personnel from the Office of the State Fire Marshal will be on scene to coordinate dispatch of resources, and other personnel will staff the State EOC.  A Type 2 Incident Management Team will assume command of the incident on Sunday August 11, 2013.

Anyone complaining about the heat?? Well for the majority, heat is good but some snow lovers are thinking year around about their skis. I can't say as I blame them but did you know that visitors to the main snow attractions go home to warmer climates and Ferry County has a large share of Snowbirds. Enjoy the sun while we have it. Go down to the Olde Swimmin Hole and get a tan...
