The squirrel shot which ran in 5 newspapers, 4 of which gave me credit including the Omak Chronicle, is now known world 'round. I have been to stores 20 miles away from home. I have heard from friends in other states and other countries, about the squirrel picture. The most common question is whether or not it has any photo-shopping done to it. Answer, NO! The critter was coming straight for my car and my camera was resting on the drivers side window. It looks a lot closer than it really is because I was shooting with a 300mm long lens. The amazing fact is that it has all four legs off the ground. When I came home that day and put the smart drive card in my computer, I had to do a double take. Did I really catch it with all four symmetrically off the ground? Yup I did. And I suspect I'll hear about this shot for as long as I live.
Another thing of interest. I really liked the last LOGO for our National Press Photographers Assn. I was using it as a background for the website. I reckon NPPA wanted to be like everyone else and look modern. The thought was to include videographers who do the bulk f work for TV news. That one at the top of this temporary blog.

From Danville,Wa comes this picture of a first frost. Warm weather
will continue but cooler nights are ahead. Hardy veggies such as
squash and pumpkin will take some cold temps but only
a hybrid tomato from Siberia will take a frost.

Last night I mentioned Al Golub. Al is a photographer who has an extensive collection of pictures taken for the Modesto Bee. Ive see his super work in black and white taken of Bobby Kennedys election train ride through Modesto. I mentioned to a friend that Bobby's wife should see the images. They are among the best of Bobby Kennedy I've ever seen. --- Besides taking pictures for the new, he teaches college classes in photography. A remarkable man who now has an extensive collection of images from the Rim Rire near Yosemite. In case you hadn't seen them, I highly suggest you take a look at a real pro in action.
