The Ferry County Search and Rescue Team reminds all hunters to take responsibility for your own safety. Anyone can get lost in the woods but there are simple steps you can take to avoid a potentially life-threatening incident.

The basics

Have a plan. Everyone likes to be spontaneous but you must plan when and where you’re going.

Know where you’re going. Pick a route, then check a Forest Service or local map and familiarize yourself with the terrain.

Charge your phone. There’s no guarantee you’ll have coverage in Ferry County, but you definitely won’t if your battery is dead.
