Controlled burns

REPUBLIC – Controlled burning could begin as soon as Oct. 1 on 270 acres of Sherman Creek Wildlife Area in Ferry County.
The Sherman Creek burn would involve five units ranging from 13 to 170 acres that lie between Highway 20 and Lake Roosevelt, south of Sherman Creek and west to just beyond the Inchelium Highway.
If burns are completed on all five Sherman Creek units, three other units just north of Sherman Creek in the Sherman Homes and WDFW fish hatchery areas might also be burned.

The Magic of Rick Price

There’s long been speculation as to whom the voice of Siri, Apple’s personal assistant in iOS devices, belong to, but today, CNN reporter Jessica Ravitz says she knows who it is.

In her piece, “I am the original voice of Siri,” Ravitz describes how while reporting a story about an airport in Atlanta, she stumbled upon Susan Bennett, a voice-over actor who says she recorded the original voice of Siri in 2005 for a company called ScanSoft. Bennett said she didn’t know what her recordings were going to be used for, and was surprised herself when a friend emailed her to ask if she was Siri.

Watch the video above and read the story over at CNN to get the full scoop.
