Lara Kocol letter follows
My nurse tonight is a survivor of a skydiving accident. She has shared some of the ups and downs but full of encouragement. She is amazing and thinks my injuries are worse than hers!! Maybe it is the "skydiving" part that causes me to doubt. Needless to say, totally needed her story to help pull through the pain and surgery prep for this morning. They will be performing the 2nd surgery on my right leg. This is where the bones went through the skin and I shattered my tibia at the ankle. Praying all goes smoothly. I still will not be able to walk on it for 3 + months. I daydream about my wheelchair design.

Cellphone shot today by Bill Shannon

One day I wish to awake pain free. My almost 4 years of Guillain Barre suffering takes its toll. I have learned a bit about what living with almost constant pain is about.

Frequently people turn away from my Timeline on weekends. This is the time I raise up my petitions to God. And when I say my daily prayers, I share by asking God to help those who suffer as I do. On Mon-Friday it's back to pictures. I have been a photographer in mostly film sand darkroom for 45 plus years. Much of that time I work as a professional for a chain of newspapers in Ohio.

I only ask simple things. Pray is easy. It isn't magic, but it has helped me. If you are one who left the church, come home. If you are embarrassed to pray in public, then pray quietly to yourself. Who knows? You might have a miracle waiting. Or you might help someone else. If you are not a " believer" that's ok too. Do as your heart tells you. And now to my hour of morning exercise.

Lots of Elk photos today as I watched this bull and his harem for about three quarters of an hour. - Rick Price

Romania has become the tenth country in the European Union to allow the use of medical marijuana to treat diseases such as epilepsy, cancer and multiple sclerosis.

So far, the ban on possession and use covered all forms of marijuana. However, two of the laws on narcotic substances now state that some of the plant’s derivatives may be used for medical purposes.

However, the doctors pointed out that marijuana will not be used as a drug, for recreational purposes, but certain compounds of the plant will be used to help decrease pain and the frequency of dramatic seizures.

The new legislative change offers the Drug Agency the possibility to give its OK to producers that want to release such drugs on the market, according to Romanian PRO TV News.

The efficiency of this type of medicine has been proven in cancer treatment, for pain relief, and in decreasing the number of seizures in the cases of multiple sclerosis and epilepsy.

Is it just me or did the city of Republic forget that at least half of the vehicles that park downtown are full size pickups or suburbans? Who decided to make parking spots that a full size (not extended or quad cab) pick will just barely fit in?  I would be irate if I received a ticket. My truck is not only street legal, but crew cabs and long beds are just as common (especially in our neck of the woods) as any other rig. If I can't even FIT in a spot how am I supposed to safely park or allow others to park??

Winter comes after fall not during:-) My hopes are that the next few days will be filled with sun and colorful leaves as they change. Each year I take pictures of the fall change. Fall and autumn are among my favorite seasons....and today looks like a fine day for an hours drive around here and there with out wheelchairs, our main mode of transport pus Jane's sister in law Pat, who is retired now here from California.....so get out and enjoy while you can..
