“Christ's mother carried Him in her womb, may we carry Him in our heart; the Virgin became pregnant with the incarnation of Christ, may our hearts become pregnant with faith in Christ; she brought forth the Savior, may our souls bring forth salvation and praise. May our souls be not sterile, but fertile for God.”

And
just to make sure that a passing critter would know that a free meal
was waiting, they hung two sponges pasted with a smelly concoction
called Craven’s Gusto onto a couple of nearby branches.
Shortsleeve said no one knew just what to expect.
Not long after the photographic trap was set, the researchers were excited to see a series of images of an elusive wolverine clinging to the tree while it snacked on the red meat.
“That surprised me,” Shortsleeve said. “We didn’t expect a wolverine to show up in an area that had been completely burned.”

REPUBLIC
— Seventh Legislative District senator-elect Brian Dansel will continue
to serve as a Ferry County commissioner while also serving in Olympia.
“I’m
a guy that doesn’t like to create problems for myself. So, I can be
sure not to advocate for policies or taxes that will hurt counties or
Eastern Washington communities,” he said Monday of his decision to
remain in both elected positions.
Dansel isn't the first state
lawmaker to remain involved in municipal government - Sen. Tim Sheldon
of Potlatch serves as a Mason County commissioner and as the 35th
Legislative District senator representing an area on the west side of
Hood Canal.
Dansel
was sworn into office Dec. 6 following his decisive Nov.5 general
election victory over John Smith of Colville. Smith had been selected a
year ago to replace Sen. Bob Morton who retired mid-term.

SEATTLE (AP) — More than 3,700 marijuana business applications have now been filed in Washington state, including 867 proposed retail outlets spanning from Point Roberts to Pullman.
Washington's Liquor Control Board released updated figures Tuesday, saying it had received 3,746 applications to grow, process or sell cannabis under Washington's recreational pot law passed by voters last year. The application window closed last week, but board spokesman Mikhail Carpenter said there is still a backlog of submissions that haven't been processed yet.
Carpenter said it's premature to dissect the numbers because it's not clear how many of the applications are viable. He said it appears some applicants hadn't done the work to identify a business location.
