When I saw posts about Verizon wireless cutting out I was glad we do not have cell phones only, but this morning our Frontier land line on Curlew Lakes north end is doing the same thing. We noticed funny clicking sounds on our land line since about December 3 or 4 but this morning three calls from out of town have cut out (after clicking on two of them) & all three times it returns to dial tone, not dead air...trying again now....the calls originated from Portland & the *4th call dropped also; the fifth when I redialed their number that time that dropped as soon as I was done dialing & on my second redial attempt, we managed to stay on long enough to make other plans to talk. VERY poor performance by Frontier: grade F

What a beautiful -- yet bitter (by Northwest standards) -- Saturday afternoon. A cloud-free December day allowed for a lot of Vitamin D, but not a lot of heat! If you weren't properly dressed in several layers, plus plenty of winterwear armour such as hats, mittens and earmuffs, the air began to sting after just a minute or two of exposure.

Starting the morning in the teens and 20s, most communities were unable to even make it to freezing for an afternoon high. And now that the starry skies are back, overnight lows will plunge even further.
Tonight will not only be colder than any other during this cold snap, but in many cases, it will be colder than it has been in the last several years. Now that the gusty winds have settled down in the Northwest interior and Cascade gaps, the still, dry air mass will cool even more, with early morning lows hitting the single digits in the most frigid communities in the foothills.

Elio Motors highlights its $7,000, 84-mpg 3-wheeled car

Scheduled to sell for less than half the price of the current cheapest car in America, the Elio is a 3-wheeled "car" that hopes to shake up the automotive world. It eschews the trendy electric powertrain for a small gas system, but thanks to its small, light, aerodynamic design, it promises to keep drivers away from the gas pumps for as long as possible.

Frozen Wetlands at Turnbull Wildlife Area

Possibly the hardest thing to do with something that is new ;) ... looks good lots of pretty colours, fuel economy isn't special, I hope it is real cheap, ... Does it really matter whether the thing is called a car or a motorcycle? .... After you get past the superficial resemblance you will find this one is carrying a lot ...
