Hi!
The other day a friend of mine decided that it would be awesome if we took her daughter to see the eagles we've been watching for the past couple of weeks. Her twin son decided he would have more fun at his friend's house. We said fine, and gathered her daughter, goodies for the road, our cameras, and hot chocolate.
Based on a tip from a mutual friend, we decided to check out a new place that supposedly had more bald eagles than the one we've been spending our time at. The tip was right on!
I adored every treasured moment of watching the bald eagles swooped down, snagged fish with their talons, and then fly to the nearest tree to consume their yummy treats. It was both impressive and mesmerizing.
I decided against wearing gloves or mittens as it would impede my ability to use my versatile camera. I needed to be able to kneel swivel, twist and zoom in on my subjects - something I find difficult to do, even with well made gloves. While it might not have been the smartest idea on my part (my inner blond, perhaps?), I don't regret my choice...or rather, I didn't regret my choice until I could no longer feel my fingers. (It was snowing, sleet was coming down, and it was rather cold! Oops?)
On the way back from our trip, a short one really, we stopped so that four deer could cross the road. By the time I got the lens cap off the camera, the deer were long gone. Anyway, I thought I would share a few of the photos I took that afternoon.
Enjoy your day!

Killer Storm: Extreme cold grips snowy Northeast
Homeowners and motorists dug out across the white-blanketed Northeast on
Friday as extreme cold ushered in by the storm threatened fingers and
toes but kept the snow powdery and mercifully easy to shovel. At least
14 deaths were blamed on the storm as it swept across the nation's
eastern half.

(twice daily), and the stories that you need to hear about the U.S. government spying and surveillance. The last year has proven once again what a critical role the media must play in holding those in power accountable. You need access to information and a diversity of voices to make decisions and form opinions - you need to hear the truth without commercial or government funders calling the shots. If this is important to you, please donate today.
