Whew, scientific proof. What a relief to learn this!
Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget
what that purpose was?
Turns out, doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses.
Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing
through a doorway triggers what's known
as an Event Boundary in the mind, separating one set of thoughts and
memories from the next.
Your brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares
a blank slate for the new locale.
Thank goodness for studies like this.

It's not our age, it's that damn door !
Did I send this to you already?

Drought-plagued California is experiencing a welcome break thanks to a strong storm that is expected to continue into Wednesday from Southern California all the way up to the Oregon border. This comes after a storm on Sunday that brought 1.4 inches of rain to Los Angeles County.
The precipitation, however, doesn't mean Californians can stop worrying.
"We need a lot more storms like this to even talk about putting a significant dent in this drought," Jeff Lorens, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service, told NBC News. "It's beneficial, yes, but we need a lot more rain."

Remember, the Christmas bazaar at the Republic school is Saturday, 9:00AM-2:00PM. I will have Tiger and Seahawk hats, and other misc team items; lots of other hats, hand warmers, boot toppers, head bands, and earrings. There will be lots of lots of awesome things by local artists to buy there. Do your Christmas shopping right here at home, and have fun going through the bazaar.

The crowds of bargain hunters that rush through store doors the day after Thanksgiving have thinned out.
U.S. shoppers spent $9.1 billion at stores on Black Friday, according to data out Saturday from research firm ShopperTrak. That's a drop of 7 percent compared with the same day last year.
But it's too early to call the holiday shopping season a dud, said Bill Martin, ShopperTrak' s co-founder. Sales on Thanksgiving jumped 24 percent to $3.2 billion. And overall sales for the two days are expected to slip half a percent to $12.29 billion. The figures don't include online transactions.
For the second straight year, the report suggests that more people avoided the crowds on Black Friday by avoiding time at home on Thanksgiving Day. This year, many large retail stores decided to open their doors to eager shoppers for extended hours on the holiday.
"People are changing their behavior," Martin said. "We've seen this for two years in a row now. Stores opening on Thanksgiving are simply eroding sales from Black Friday."

Rain, flooding and mudslides threaten California neighborhoods

|As much as six inches of rain could fall in parts of California by the end of Wednesday, causing fear of mudslides. Millions are already facing flooded streets, and the rain has barely made a dent in the recent drought. Ben Tracy reports from Glendora, Calif. VIDEO

Giant sunspot aligns with Earth - and it could create huge flares that would wreak havoc on our power grids and satellites

  • Sunspot, known as Active Region 12192, began facing Earth in October
  • It disappeared for two weeks but is now facing Earth again, claims Nasa
  • The region is the largest sunspot to be seen on the sun in 24 years
  • This time it's more likely to produce a series of coronal mass ejections
  • These are created when bubbles of plasma spew out from sun's surface
  • CMEs are capable of knocking out power grids and disrupting satellites

I disagree and I'll off you mama
