GLORIANA MUSICAL THEATRE, originally known as GLORIANA OPERA COMPANY, was founded in 1976 with Gilbert & Sullivan’s "The Mikado" as its first Light Opera at Crown Hall in Mendocino, 1977. Over the years Gloriana has given the community and its visitors many Broadway musicals - classics like "Anything Goes," "South Pacific," "Annie Get Your Gun" "Funny Girl" and on-the-edge musicals - think "RENT" and "La Cage aux Folle," several Rock 'n' Roll Revues, Way Off! Broadway, Magic Shows, Opera, and now Comedy. We enjoy experimenting and growing our seasons' offerings to include a variety of choices for our audiences. We have welcomed guest Directors from New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles while giving our local directors plenty to work on. All our designers, choreographers, vocal directors, technical crew are locals. The Mendocino coast and our inland communities are filled with talented people. We've performed in historic venues (Crown Hall in Mendocino and Eagles Hall Theatre in Fort Bragg) where the audience is favored with an up close theatrical experience as well as the larger Cotton Auditorium in Fort Bragg with its new state-of-the-art sound and light boards. Gloriana Musical Theatre is proud to be members of AACT (American Association of Community Theatre), TBA (Theatre Bay Area), NBTG (North Bay Theatre Group), and the Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce. Gloriana community outreach includes Musical Theatre Workshops for Young Performers. These talented kids have participated in many productions on stage and behind the scenes in "The AristoCats," "Willy Wonka, Jr.," "Alice in Wonderland, Jr.," "Charlotte's Web," and "Fiddler on the Roof, Jr." The holiday serenading of the Gloriana Carolers in vintage Victorian costumes have raised thousands of dollars for scholarships granted to talented and eligible high school students who wish to further their education in theatre arts, behind the scenes, as designers, directors, or on the stage. And every year Gloriana loves to participate in the small town, quirky July 4th parade in Mendocino. Visit our Web site at www.Gloriana.org to see this year's lineup of musical offerings then come see us. We would love to entertain you!
