The Inland Northwest is going to sizzle with
90-degree heat for one more day before a cooling trend sends
temperatures down to normal – even below normal – for the middle
of July.
But as the change arrives, the region could see windy and dry
conditions that will heighten wild fire danger through 11 p.m. today.
A weak cold front is expected to move across the region, creating an
air pressure gradient that will kick up gusts to 25 mph today.
The front will also dry out the atmosphere. The relative humidity could fall to as low as 8 percent in the Spokane region.

Mendocino Beaco
Fort Bragg, CA: Today
Mendocino Beacon
The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors approved a letter of support for a State Assembly bill that would rename a portion of Highway 1 as a memorial to fallen Mendocino County Sheriff's Deputy Ricky Del Fiorentino.
The letter of support was approved during the Board of Supervisors' July 8 meeting.
Assembly Concurrent Resolution 159, written by Assembly member Wes Chesbro and co-authored by State Sen. Noreen Evans, would rename a three-mile stretch of Highway 1 north of Fort Bragg, from mile post marker 62 southbound to mile post marker 65 northbound, as the Deputy Sheriff Ricky Del Fiorentino Memorial Highway.
Del Fiorentino was killed in the line of duty on March 19 while he and other members of local law enforcement were searching the Cleone area for an armed fugitive from Oregon. The murder suspect ambushed Del Fiorentino, firing an assault rifle from cover into the deputy's vehicle before he was shot and killed by Fort Bragg Police

They have NOT relocated the Red Cross shelter to Tonasket but Okanogan is under a level 1 evacuation. If the fire continues its drive I can't imagine making a decision to bottle neck the refugees in the border town of Oroville so there is a real possibility of needing space for everyone east of the danger. Republic is the first stop--are we putting scenarios in place and preparing for this? I would hope we can offer something to our neighboring county who put all their resources on the line to help us out in the past.
